FAQ

We are located in Manhattan Beach, CA right on the Media Campus lot. Close to the 405 and 105 highways and a very short drive from Los Angeles International Airport. The studio is located in a sound stage on a secure movie lot.

Kids can register for our 1 week program to start. After they’re completed their 1 week program, they are able to move forward and register into the same program for more advanced instruction or into any next level program.

If you are having trouble with your camp registration, don’t hesitate to reach out to our friendly staff at The Camera Camp! 310-727-2900

The Camera Camp experience is built to accommodate a wide range of ages and abilities. We have an incredibly skilled instructional staff and low child-to-staff ratio, which allows excellent one-on-one time for each camper. For designated programs, our instructors will work with you and guide you to help you achieve any particular goal or project idea!

Yes, we require signed waivers for every child prior to their attendance. They will be available in early Spring. These waivers include:

Behavioral Guidelines
General Liability
Consent to Give Medication at Camp (If applicable)
Medical Information, Treatment, and Release of Medical Information
Epipen and Inhaler Release (if applicable)
Technical Account Policy

We adhere to strict background checks of each staff member and are trained in both emergency response and child safety standards. All of our staff are well-trained and are all CPR and First Aid certified.

Just call us to let us know. Our mission is to create the most fun environment and we will strive to have fun projects and overcome any missed days.

Parents are invited to come to the studio any time before or on Monday morning to see the location of the studio, meet the team, and ask any questions. We do not allow parents to stay in the studio during the day while camp is in session. On Friday, we welcome you to join us during the Friday Open House, where you can see the projects your child has been working on during the week.

We provide a 30 minute window for picking up your child before additional fees are charged. Some sessions allow for extended time to utilize the studio. Depending on your session, this may be an option.

The process for administering medication is as follows:

Medication is kept in a lock box. Each day at the appointed time, the camper is provided the medication and the staff administers the medication. We keep a logbook of each day that it’s administered, how many pills are taken, and what time.
Parents/Guardians will need to do the following: at check-in, provide the staff with the medication in the original container with the pharmacy label and the following:

Name of Parent
Name of Participant
Telephone Number
Name of medication(s)
Best time to administer to student
Dosage

It is important to note that we are located on an active movie lot. Our participants are supervised for the entirety of the program. Kids are walked to breaks and lunch. Behavior issues are reported to you and significant issues can result in removal from the program for their safety as well as the requirements of the lot.

While computers are a part of the modern production experience, they are far from our sole endeavor (except for editing sessions). We offer a wide range of recreational, team-based, and character-building activities. We see this as the perfect opportunity to help campers make new friends and increase their personal confidence.

Our camp program age groups are typically for ages between 10-15 years old. Contact us if you’re child is outside of this age group, please let us know and we will make exceptions whenever possible.

We largely use our own team, with decades of experience and a love for teaching. We describe our staff as industry professionals and educators with a passion for showing kids how to have fun in production!

The Camera Camp is not a special needs camp; we want to make sure that the children in the studio environment are able to take care of themselves behaviorally for their protection and safety. If you decide to register for the course there will be a section where you can add any pertinent information that can assist our on-campus staff in making this a positive experience for you and your child. Please give us as much information as you feel necessary and feel free to contact us.

Apart from photo tours or special trips, we do not offer overnight camping at this time, only day camp.

Skills FAQ

Our camp is hands-on and project-based. At the end of each week, kids will have either started on their portfolio that they can continue to build on, or have added projects to their existing portfolios. Kids in our programs will receive a certificate of completion from The Camera Camp.  At the end of the week, we will offer suggestions and resources for the kids to continue to learn and build upon the knowledge of the week.

The Camera Camp welcomes back kids to the studio anytime throughout the year if they’d like to come by and/or work on a personal project with our resources! We can also organize events and programs for kids at other schools or organizations. If you are interested in organizing a customized program at your school, please contact us at: 310-727-2900

Food and Diet

Campers can bring their own lunch with them. However, we do offer a lunch add-on upon registration. Adding the lunch option usually means eating a selection we provide from our on-site cafe on the lot. It is also recommended that campers are sent with a water bottle and some snacks to sustain them through the day.

Kids are welcome to eat inside the studio at setup stations or outside on the lot at our picnic tables!

The Camera Camp is aware that students may have special dietary needs. As a bring-your-own camp, we do not have complex mechanisms for diverse food selections. For meals we provide, we do offer a few elections which are intended to handle traditional fluctuations in taste and diet; such as a vegetarian option.

If your child has severe food allergies, we would recommend sending a sack lunch from home each day. This is a casual working environment and we cannot ensure that all residue of allergenic foods have been removed.
